Denver Botanic Gardens Rules
Make the most out of your trip to Denver Botanic Gardens by reading and adhering to the following policies. If you have any questions about the policies, please contact the general information office at 720-865-3500.
Accessibility Policy

Most of the Denver Botanic Gardens indoor and outdoor gardens and facilities, including restrooms and classrooms, are wheelchair accessible. Some areas of the Gardens are not wheelchair accessible without assistance. But you can check with the staff in the Bonfils-Stanton Visitor Center for clarification on accessible routes. The Waring House, due to its historical nature, is not wheelchair accessible.

Accessible Parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis. If you need to rent a wheelchair or stroller, they are available at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the Information Desk in the Boettcher Memorial Center. Reservations are not accepted and you will be required to leave a driver’s license or valid photo ID.

The Gardens do not offer motorized wheelchairs or scooters.

No pets are allowed at the York Street Gardens. Service dogs/animals are permitted. The Gardens asks that you not leave pets in cars. Any pets discovered in vehicles will result in their owners being asked to leave and take them home. Service animals are not permitted in the herberia located in the Boettcher Memorial Center due to the sensitive nature of their specimens. If you would like to visit the herbaria and have a service animal, please call 720-865-3593 to make an appointment. The Gardens recommends that you come with someone who can stay with your service animal during your visit to the herbaria.
Dress Policy
There is no dress code for Denver Botanic Gardens. You should dress for comfort and the weather. However, please keep your outfits, including any logos or messages on shirts, hats, or other garments, appropriate for family audiences.
Food and Beverage Policy
Outside food and any non-alcoholic beverage are allowed at the gardens. Denver Botanic Gardens even has several sites that are perfect for picnics.

Guests should not pick flowers, walk through the gardens, or climb trees for any reason

Guests are allowed to bring their food and non-alcoholic beverages into the Gardens. There are plenty of sites perfect for a picnic

Guests are asked to use the compost and recycling bins located around the Gardens

Visitors are welcome to take personal photos and videos using personal cameras or phones.

Professional Portrait and Fine Art photography require a one-time or annual permi.

Service animals are welcome, but dogs and other pets should be left at home

Loud music, bikes, scooters, skateboards, frisbees, and sleds are not allowed. Please keep the gardens relaxing for everyone.

Do not touch, climb, or manipulate art of any kind. It’s more delicate than it looks.

Animals in the Gardens are wild, please do not feed or touch them.

Do not wade in pools or walk across them when they are frozen.
Photography and Video Policy
Personal video and photography are acceptable and welcome. Professional photography and video require a one-time or annual permit.
Prohibited Items
Denver Botanic Gardens does not allow the following items on the premises.

Weapons of any kind including guns, knives, replicas, pepper spray, and projectiles

Alcoholic beverages

Clothing with offensive or profane language
The Gardens staff reserves the right to restrict items not listed above. If you want to be sure that your belongings are acceptable please call general information at 720-865-3500.
Refund Policy
Denver Botanic Gardens does not allow refunds or exchanges on special event tickets unless otherwise noted for the event. Tickets will not be replaced if lost, stolen, or unused. Tickets are not refunded for any inclement weather including snow, wind, rain, mud, or extreme temperatures. Refunds will not be given if you are dissatisfied with an event since opinions are subjective. Plants purchased at the Spring Plant Sale or the Fall Plant & Bulb Sale will not be refunded if they wither after the event. Event ticket purchases are non-transferable.
Smoking Policy
Denver Botanic Gardens does not allow smoking of any kind on the premises. This includes cigars, cigarettes, e-cigs, vapes, and any similar device or paraphernalia.
